I am a painter based in Penngrove, California. In my work, I switch back and forth between oil and acrylic painting, with each providing a respite from the frustrations and limitations of the other. Subject matter runs the gamut, but over time I have developed a slight preference for figurative work and portraiture of all types of creatures. To see the essence of a particular being start to emerge in paint is, for me, a magical moment and one I seek to capture again and again. I also paint abstracts, botanicals, landscapes and urban scenes, and sometimes venture outside the studio for plein aire studies. Overall, this online journal serves as a visual diary, a record of my creative process and progress, which has itself evolved into something of a spiritual practice.
