Girl with Yellow Umbrella

oil on canvas paper, 12" x 12"

Sacred Path

oil on canvas, 30" x 24"

This is another attempt at a narrative painting, something I was introduced to in Taos.  The cow, the Indian girl and the bird all symbolize sacred things to me.  The colors white, red and black also signify birth, life and death in the life cycle.

Lola

oil on gesso board, 12" x 12"

More green and pink! I love the pairing of a hot pink with a cool green.  In fact, I love the pairings of all complementaries where one is hot and the other cool.

Devon

oil on cradled birch panel, 11" x 14"

This was an exercise in painting material, something I've been doing a lot lately and loving.  Here I was playing with the abstract shapes made by the folds of satin, wondering how far I could push it.

Kunming Kutie

oil on hardboard panel, 6" x 6"

Christine and I found this adorable little girl dancing on the sidewalk in Kunming, China, one evening while the rest of our group was waiting at the train station for the night train to Dali.
