Christine and I found this adorable little girl dancing on the sidewalk in Kunming, China, one evening while the rest of our group was waiting at the train station for the night train to Dali.
In this quick little sketch, I was playing with green (in the sky and on the karsts) and red (the reflected setting sun off the water) to try to come up with a viable dusk palette.
A beautiful orange pond with bougainvillea bushes I was enamored with on Haidao Island, a tiny island in the middle of Erhai Lake, with the city of Dali on the distant shore.
This character is painted on the door of a temple on the mountain pass we traveled between Lijiang and Shangri-La in Tibet. If anyone knows what this means, please tell me.
Here is another painting that preceded my trip to Asia. I believe this to be in Guilin somewhere, although I never encountered this scene in my travels. Guilin was magical and I hope to do a few from that region.
